Objectivity has a proven delivery track record for Edrington built over the past 3 years of constructively working together. This is illustrated by successful delivery and ongoing support for Edrington of many systems including cask production, bottling production monitoring, modernisation of the barcoding system, manning board, etc.

In partnership with Edrington, Objectivity is currently undertaking a significant iSeries application modernisation programme as a pre-cursor to extend and future-proof both the existing business critical application and the ongoing development and maintenance of its core stock system. With new technology and business requirements, there is a 12-month roadmap to take initial key steps, with future work to enable ongoing system improvement and enhancement.

The role:

to provide Application Development and Maintenance Support for critical business systems such as bulk stocks management, handling all aspects of the tracking of all stock from initial distillation, through transportation, to long-term storage and bottling;

having the ability to analyse RPG code and maintain existing applications plus the design and development of new options and facilities;

to work within a hybrid team of experienced RPG, Java and .NET developers initially onsite with the Client in Glasgow, Scotland and thereafter in Wroclaw, Poland;

applying and establishing best-practices for software delivery, to design and implement an automated delivery process, supported by automated testing, allowing us to release enhancements with confidence on a frequent and timely basis;

with an initial focus on systems modernisation, to become part of an agile DevOps team charged with the enhancement and maintenance of business-critical systems written in RPG, RPGLE, RPG Free Form, and embedded SQL on IBM i (iSeries/ AS/400);

exciting cross-team working with both technology and business representatives;

to ensure high code quality and constantly improving applications to make them open for future extensions and integrations with components built in alternative programming languages like C#, Java and PHP;

taking forwards an application which has run successfully for decades and continuing its successful operation to assure bulk stock management on a daily, operational basis.

The DevOps team will be responsible for both Development and Operational support activities.

You are the one, if you have:

at least 5 years of IT professional experience including minimum of 3 years’ experience with the design and development of AS400/iSeries applications;

at least 2 years of experience in Project life cycle activities on development and maintenance projects, ability to work in team in diverse multiple stakeholder environment;

excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills;

experience in automated testing is desirable;

good verbal & written communication skills for documentation & meetings when working with users.

at least 3 years of experience in AS400/iSeries Production support projects Troubleshooting Debugging and handling high priority incidents;

proven programming experience in ILE RPG, Free Form ILE RPG, CL, IBM i DB2 and SQL;

experience of modernising RPG applications using tools like ARCAD and x-Analysis is desirable;

having the existing skills or willingness to augment your RPG skills with one or more object oriented programming languages (Java, C#,) or web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript);
